B.Ed (Bachelor of Education)

Bachelor of Education or B Ed is a professional undergraduate program that prepares students for a career in teaching. The course is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to become effective educators. The B.Ed course typically lasts for 2 years and is divided into four semesters. During this time, students learn about various aspects of teaching, including educational psychology, teaching methodology, curriculum development, and classroom management.

B.Ed Eligiblity

  • Candidates must have finished their undergraduate degree in any stream—whether it be arts, sciences, or commerce
  • B.Ed course admission procedure provided they have graduated with at least 50 - 55 percent aggregate marks.
  • Age Restrictions: In the majority of colleges, there are no age restrictions for B.Ed admissions. However, some B Ed institutions have a minimum age requirement of 19 years old for applicants.

D.Ed (Diploma in Education)

D.Ed is also known as Diploma in Education which is a teacher's learning programme which intends to give basic training to candidates who wish to enter into the field of education. Candidates who complete this course are awarded diploma in education which allows them to work as an elementary teacher or pursue higher degrees in Education. This course is of two years duration and offered at certificate level which can be pursued after completing Class 12th from any recognised board. It is a very popular course amongst candidates who wish to enter into school teaching.

D.Ed Eligibility

  • To meet eligibility criteria for the DEd programme candidates should clear Class 12th in any stream from a recognised board with a minimum of 50% - 60% aggregate marks.
  • Aspirants should have at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • It is to be noted that the eligibility criteria may slightly differ depending upon the institute the candidate has applied for admission.

M.Ed (Master of Education)

M.Ed or Master of Education is a master degree course that deals with the study of new methods of teaching and educational research. The programme focuses on different aspects of education including instruction, curriculum, counselling, leadership, and educational technology. M.Ed full form is Master of Education. M.Ed is a 2 years professional course that prepares educators by nurturing their professional skills by widening their knowledge by providing hands-on knowledge about the various ways of educating students.

Eligibility for M.Ed

  • M.Ed is of two years duration divided into four semesters. However, some universities/ colleges also offer a one-year duration M.Ed programme. The course is offered in various subjects and specialisations.
  • Candidates can pursue M.Ed in distance education and regular mode. After the completion of the M.Ed course, candidates can choose to work not only as teachers but also as counsellors, administrators, headmasters, etc.
  • M.Ed is pursued after completing B.Ed which is a two-year course preparing candidates for a career in school teaching.
